South Korea releases draft for comments on partial revisions to the "Regulations on the Declaration and Inspection of Imported Food, etc."
Food Partner Network News On May 20, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea issued Announcement No. 2024-250, proposing to revise some of the contents of the "Regulations on the Declaration and Inspection of Imported Food, etc." The main contents are as follows:
1. Improve the process of applying for planned imports of raw materials used to produce the company's own products and raw materials used for foreign exchange acquisition: The scope of application for planned imports has been expanded, including raw materials (excluding aquatic products) used to produce the company's own products that are declared imported by enterprises registered as food production and processing enterprises, food additive production enterprises or professional distribution and sales enterprises, and are considered safe by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and projects that submit test and inspection reports from foreign testing and inspection institutions recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, as well as raw materials used to acquire foreign exchange to produce export products, and the documents to be submitted when applying have been clarified.
2. Carry out precision inspection and random sampling inspection on kidney beans, millet, red beans, persimmons, burdocks and pumpkins from China.
3. Modify some wordings in this standard according to the implementation of the expiration date labeling system.
4. Adjust the number of pesticide inspection items for the first precision inspection from 113 to 128 items.
