On May 23, 2024, it was learned from the meeting on technical trade measures in the market supervision system held in Hangzhou that the State Administration for Market Regulation and the World Trade Organization (WTO) officially launched the construction of the Chinese version of the WTO Technical Trade Measures Notification and Early Warning Platform. The Technical Trade Measures Notification and Early Warning Platform (ePing System) is the official platform for the World Trade Organization (WTO) to publish comprehensive, timely and accurate technical trade measures information. It will be put into use in 2022. It aims to help WTO member companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to obtain timely information on trade-related standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures, and enhance the transparency of international trade.
At present, more than 6,000 technical trade measures are released through the platform each year. After the Chinese version of the early warning platform is completed, it will provide timely and authoritative technical trade measures information services to stakeholders such as Chinese government departments, export enterprises, technical institutions, and scientific research institutes, helping stakeholders to keep abreast of the latest developments in global technical trade measures, deepen interactive exchanges with stakeholders, reduce trade frictions, and help them better participate in global competition.
The State Administration for Market Regulation undertakes technical trade measures work according to its duties, and the technical trade measures reported account for about 90% of the measures notified by the Chinese government. During the construction of the Chinese version of the ePing system, in order to provide Chinese stakeholders with timely, authoritative, comprehensive, convenient and free technical and trade measures information, the State Administration for Market Regulation launched the official account "Technical and Trade Measures Public Service Platform". All information is synchronized with the ePing system and provides free information query services.
